Aims
The aims of the DANUK are:
- to be based at the Deaf Cultural Centre, the Deaf Arts Network will support current and future Deaf Artists.
- The Deaf Cultural Centre/Deaf Arts Network will establish partnerships with local and national art galleries, agencies, theatres and organisations to develop new projects. Projects will involve training and providing workshops, to raise awareness of Deaf people as artists and the knowledge and skills that they offer.
- Art by Professional Deaf Artists to be showcased at the Deaf Cultural Centre with either exhibitions by individuals or as a group throughout the year.
- to develop an annual week-long Deaf Arts Festival - the first one took place in 2008.
- to become an official network to support young Deaf people who are studying to become professional artists and empowering them with the knowledge that the Deaf Arts Network UK are there for guidance and support.
- for the artists to achieve and gain experience in managing meetings, curating, organising creative events and community celebration/festivals, including creative production in any new project.
