Introduction
Our Community Development Manager, Robin Ash, continuously consults with community members to find out what activities and events they would like to see here at the Deaf Cultural Centre. He works with all of our community Groups to help them develop and grow and to assist them in organising activities and events throughout the year.
Robin Ash
Part of Robin's role is to explain how and why the Deaf Cultural Centre is different to the old Deaf Centre, how we can support the community to develop and to explore how you can help us to celebrate Deaf Culture in an accessible and inclusive venue. This includes the café, the bar, conference and events facilities.
For the first time it’s down to the Deaf Community to chose and organise what they would like to see happen here at the Deaf Cultural Centre. Members of the community can now arrange activities, events and parties with support from the Community Development Manager if they need it. Different groups of Deaf people are organising a range of events throughout the coming year.
The Deaf Cultural Centre is dedicated to providing a central meeting space for community members, deaf events and already has a variety of groups who meet here to socialise, explore aspects of their culture and to have fun!
