Creative Hands: Deaf Arts Festival

Back for the 3rd year running, Creative Hands (Deaf Arts Festival), organised by Deaf Arts Network UK, is taking place from Friday 2nd July - Saturday 10th July.

 

Throughout the week, there are a number of events taking place at the Deaf Cultural Centre and at other venues.

 

Wednesday 7th July, 6pm - 8pm at the Deaf Cultural Centre

Deaf Arts Exhibition - Private View.

Work in different media by deaf and hard of hearing artists including Sunny Chana, Olivier Jamin and Iva Hay.

Entry is by invitation only. Contact Alison Breadon if you would like to attend.

 

Wednesday 7th July, 8pm - 10pm or Saturday 10th July 10:30am - 5pm, both at the Deaf Cultural Centre

Deaf Arts Exhibition - Public View

 

Thursday 8th and 9th July at the Deaf Cultural Centre

Deaf and hard of hearing artists will be delivering accessible creative workshops for deaf pupils from local schools all over Birmingham and the West Midlands.

 

Families will have an opportunity to attend a creative and family oriented workshop on Saturday 10th July from 10:30am - 5pm at the Deaf Cultural Centre. Established deaf artist Fiona McLean, will be delivering a workhop for all ages to design their own shopping bag!

DANUK (Deaf Arts Network UK) is an established group of aspiring and professional Deaf artists. The group meets regularly to:

  • offer advice/campaign to improve access to creative opportunities
  • develop new arts projects
  • network and share ideas
  • organise professional development training

 

There are also opportunities for hearing artists with an interest in Deaf Arts.
